Parise helps but the bigger key is whether or not Kovalchuk can go back to the player he was for Atlanta. The Devils thought they were signing a 50-goal scorer, so 60 total points like last year (31 goals) was actually disappointing.

True but I think what Kovalchuk needs is a playmaker such as Parise to help setup quality chances. Kovalchuk is a goal scorer not a playmaker thats where Parise can help where most others on NJ are helpless. NJ style of play doesnt help anything either

And that style will always hold their scoring down unless they change philosophies, which hasn't happened in the franchise's existence in New Jersey
