Vokoun signed 1 year deal with Caps
As title said, Vokoun signed a 1 year deal with the Caps for a bargain price of 1.5 million. Absolute steal considering the price of some back ups and 3 or 4th liner that signed the last couple of days. Combined with the trade of Varlamov to the Avs for a 1st and a 2nd round pick, Washington are making some smart moves this off season.

What a steal for the Caps. Gotta give Vokoun credit for giving up huge money to play for a contender.

I think he's a better goalie than Bryzgalov, Flyers overpaid big time.

He probably wants to make the playoffs once again, after wasting 4 fruitless years with the lowly Panthers

Vokoun is on record stating he wanted to win a cup. He took a major discount to come to Washington. He contacted them first.
Great off season moves by Washington. Especially obtaining the 1st overall from Colorado for a goalie that wanted out and very little NHL
              experience.

He took a major discount. The Caps look dangerous with an actual goalie now

Each and every player wants to win the Cup, but giving up four milion dollars from his previous salary only to be able to play for the Caps who might choke again in the playoffs despite him standing on his head really doesn´t seem like a smart move to me. I will sure eat my words if they do win the Cup this year, but right now I think it´s just silly from him. I would understand this move if he had been an overpaid star getting 6-7 milion bucks every season during the last 10 years, so that money would not have to be the factor for him and he could be only after fame. Anyway, best of luck in Washington, Tomas!!

panthers fan/season ticket holder here....Vokoun can be amazingly good some nights but embarrising swiss cheese (full of holes) the next. A great signing at that price but keep the back-up prepared for those off-nights. Despite the division rivalry I don't hate the Caps so good luck to them this season!
