unfortunately its still just a rumour. but when asked, the oilers gm didnt deny it. he only said it wasnt a done deal

Will be a very good move for Edm if it goes through. They need some vet scorers to mix with all that young talent.

I,m from Edmonton. This Ryan Smyth trade is great news for Oiler's- they have been trying to saddle their future on a rookie who couldn't even win Rookie of the Year. They must have an enormous amount of salary cap room.(They paid Tayler Hall less than 1M last year)

Confirmed now. Smyth for Colin Fraser and a seventh round draft pick.

Good trade for the Oilers getting a veteran leader to help with the growth of the young talented forwards on that team.

really cool that Smyth was so determined to play for edmonton. i heard calgary was going for him but he wasnt going to wave his no trade clause if it meant playing anywhere but calgary. i like that there are some players that dont just chase paper or the best teams. to have a veteran like Smyth demand to come back to Edmonton will def be inspiring to the young guys. a similar thing involved bieksa and salo because both said they would stay in vancouver even if it meant taking a paycut.
