#4vancouver is better and they have home ice. home ice does not mean a lot in hockey, but it still accounts for something, more-so id say than usual given that its the stanley cup finals and the crowds should be electric. Vancouver is better team. boston has slightly better goalie (thomas is great but luongo is good too). boston needs to get their powerplay going if they want to have a chance. it doesnt have to be spectacular, but its gonna have to contribute something. vancouver has great powerplay and great penalty kill. i think if the special teams battles are lopsided in vancouvers favor, it will be tough for the bruins. But if the bruins can do a decent job on the special teams fight and keep it relatively even, i think we're in for a good series. obviously vancouver has the edge, but -225 is tough to lay. i think the miami heat are a much better series bet for a cheaper price.Comment -

#17Think VAN is the play for the series. As a team they've adjusted to account for Luongo's nervousness and in general should be too much for BOS. Looking forward to seeing Chara as the towering pylon he truly is. CheersComment -

#25Julien coached teams have made the playoffs 5 years in a row and have made playoffs 6 of 8 years he has coached in the NHL (his teams make the playoffs 75% of the time)
Vigneault coached teams have made the playoffs 3 years in a row and have made the playoffs 7 of 10 years he has coached in the NHL. (his teams make the playoffs 70% of the time)
Vancouver has 7 olympian's
Boston has 6 olympians
so one could say that Julien has had to do more with less. I think the vast majority of us would say Vancouver has more talent overall on either team. So that would help the argument a little more too.
Again, these are based on the Coaches being HEAD COACHES in the NHL, not assistants.
Both guys have won the Jack Adams, so a true sign that they are in fact quality coaches, which I was not disputing, I just think the way Julian adapted to the Tampa 1-3-1 in game 7 showed us (me) how much this guy can get his team to adjust. having a coach that can get his players to adjust and stay motivated is essential to any professional team winning.
When they were down 2-0 to the Habs, almost everyone started betting the Habs to win the series, his ability to keep his troops calm and focused was the difference as they came back to win that series in 7.
His clam yes direct demeanor behind the bench, has both the attention and respect of his players.
marchand was a nutcase, (ok, still is) but under Julien has excelled and become more of a rounded player, instead of the pest he was. This leadership quality is often overlooked, and transitioning a player from goon/pest to all round or at least a little more all rounded and controlled temper shows again the respect he garners from his players. Not to say that Vigneault does not have his players respect, I just think he lacks the ability to adapt in game as fast and good as julien.Comment -

#26The only way Boston can win is if Thomas steal the series.

#27Anyone on Boston is an idiot. The ONLY way they win is if Vancouver has a complete meltdown as an entire team. Thomas gets way too much respect and he was a sieve for most of the series vs tampa.

And Thomas gets too much respect....but all he did was lead the league in GAA and SV%, 2 of the most telling goalie stats there are.....hmmm...
