Over is 15-6 in Elimination Games
There's been a lot of talk about overs always hitting in elimination games. I went back and calculated all the elimination games for this year's post-season and the over has hit in 15/21 games for a 71.4% rate.

The over is 5-0 in Round two elimination games as well Just some food for thought

Cheers for that DG. Its good to see the facts. I have been following the overs theory on elimination games with good success this season. That was until today, when I took the under. duh.

Wow, that's an unreal stat. You would think these deciding games would be much tighter

Good job DG. I knew it had to be hitting at a good rate just didnt go back and check. Teams on brink of elimination tend to take alot of chances especially if they get down early. Usually results in alot more scoring chances for both teams. Lot of odd man rushes both ways and broken plays. Its funny because NBA is totally opposite most of those elimination games tend to go under because teams try to slow the game down and usually there is more defensive intensity on both sides.

are you counting every single elimination game per series? i.e. one series could have 5 (3-0, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3,3-3)

The main correlation between elimination games and the over is definitely the empty netters in my opinion. Just look back at game 4 in Boston. 2-1 with 5 minutes to play and Boston makes it 3-1. Philly then pulls their goalie with like 3:30 left and Boston buries two more empty netters. If the team on the ropes is trailing they will go all out with their season on the line, including pulling their goalie if they're down 1-3 goals.

Empty net goals towards the end when teams go into desperation mode. The first 2-3 games are usually much tighter.

In a 7 game series, one team cannot be eliminated before game 4 or after game 7. I only count 4 elimination games.
In the conference semi's West, the first four games were under and the last 6 over. It looks like an under in Nash tonight though.

you expect another over or under tomorrow night? Usually sharks on the road means over no?

Another over I meant Wings are 4-0 to the over at home this post-season.

Right you are: Last 7 games in the West are 6-1 over, 6-1 visitor wins.

Trend is STFU sir The NHL playoffs are the best playoffs of any major sport. Way better than MLB/NFL and NBA playoffs by far. MLB is the worst playoff set-up on the planet.
