    Sabres Over Flyers
Haven't seen much discussion on BUF/PHI for Game One so I'll state my preference for BUF today at about +135 against PHI. BUF has a comparable road record to PHI's home record (although some people say reg. season means nothing I think it still gives at least an overall idea of a team). Goaltending Miller should have the edge over Bobrovsky. Probably an edge for PHI offensively. Comparable injuries except for Pronger, which is obviously a huge loss for PHI. It can be argued PHI took the last games off but BUF seems quite primed while PHI looks (and for some time) to be stumbling. At any rate BUF seems to have just as likely a chance of taking Game One and with a pretty stellar price. I'm just wondering if regulation time is the way to go. Good luck today.

Playoffs are a new season..Philly is a veteran team who was sleepwalking thru the last 20+ games, they know how to win a series, have way more balanced scoring and are potent offensively.
Buffalo is limited to the Vanek line, Miller is not 100%
Admittedly the Flyers need to hit the switch and this game is HUGE for them, but this series will not go very long if they play up to their potential

Philly is too deep, Buffalo will be exposed in a 7 game series.

Flyers thrive for home ice in the play offs...they will show up to play..pronger is a huge loss though, confirmed that he is missing game 1. Im hearing to expect him to be back by game 3

I agree with above. Although Buffalo is a great team with a great GK, Flyers will come through and win this series. Flyers are deeper on offense and defense. I would bet on flyers to win series but I hate betting futures even if its a week or two.

Flyers are going to run all over the Sabres. The minute the Flyers wake up and start hitting and getting physical with the Sabres, the Sabres will be done. Watch it happen tonight....so many Sabre backers thinking they are going to take the series. Very confused on why they think they can, Flyers are way too deep and once Pronger gets back, it's over for any team in the East.

Flyers will win game 1 forsure along with the series. The only win I see buff getting is the first home game, otherwise it'll be a clean.

I can see a decent case being made for PHI taking the series. But on a game-by-game basis tonight seems like a good opportunity to capitalize on BUF's momentum, general team health and decent play on the road. Waiting for PHI to "wake up" and Pronger to return is a dicey strategy in my books. I really don't see how any team in their right mind figures "what the hell, let's lose seven of our last ten before the big show..." If you take the April 8 game as any indication BUF certainly has the potential to make it close and should have enough sense to go full steam, especially while Pronger is out.

Why do visiting players drop the gloves in the playoffs?

The Flyers have much more talent all around. 3 lines vs 1.5 lines. Hard to bet with the 1.5 lines.

Sabres are 8-2 in Game 1s under Lindy Ruff so I give Buffalo the edge. Playing half a unit on this game, but staying away from the series price because I see this one going the distance.

Flyers have won their last 12 home games when they have home ice advantage in the series.

Not a huge hockey guy, but I follow some of the threads on here (I find that the hockey followers are some of the most informed posters on this site), and I agree with Smitty. Arguments for Phil. seem to rely on what might be....when Philly wakes up, when Pronger returns, etc....argument for Buffalo seems to be more substantive...hot as hell over the last half of the season, have won in Philly this year already, playoff-tested coach. While I think this game could go either way, I think the point is that there is value on the Sabres coming in as a decent-sized (+130 to +135) dog.

Who cares if Coach Ruff is 8-2 in game 1 of the series? How many of those Game 1 wins was he on the road in Philly against this 2011 Flyers team? Throw that out the window it has nothing to do with tonights game.

Thanks for the nomination LineWiz. I think Pronger really was (is) the quarterback of PHI and they look confused without him. Only saw portions of the game but from what I saw BUF executed their game plan quite well-general stifling defense and they figured from the start Miller would have to bail them out several times, which he did. PHI may easily bounce back for game two but tonight was a good opportunity.

LOL, just like they would beat the sabres in an under game the last time they played

howd that turn out? 4-3 sabres win

and now they beat your flyers in game one of the playoffs in philly,

Apparently it does matter. Lindy Ruff is the constant over the years and it doesn't matter who they play their style would be the same. That may be why he's the longest tenured coach in the NHL and I expected Buffalo to come out playing tight defense which they did. That plus a Pronger-less Philly team stumbling into the playoffs made for an easy game 1 decision.

nice call i had the under , but every year you have a goalie that just turns into a wall and i think miller will be that goalie this year
