    Nebbish question
I'm looking for a source of historical line data for NHL. So far I have identified Covers.com, which has limited data going back only so far as the 06-07 season, and donbest.com which has considerably more detailed data going back to the 05-06 season. The latter I have scraped but I need help in interpreting it.

Take for example 1st April 2007, Detroit at Columbus. "-200", "-175" etc I understand to be the moneyline odds on Detroit (presumably we are supposed to know where each book's line breaks were and infer Columbus's odds). But what do "pk-85" and "-1½+60" mean? And what does the total "5o45" mean? and why is the over specified for some games but the under for others?

I'll share the final CSV with helpful posters.

The "pk-85" just means that it's a straight moneyline, so in other words it would read detroit as a -185 favorite. The dog line would be something you would have to work out depending on breakage.

The "-1 1/2 +60" is the puck line. So this would read as follows:

    Detroit -1.5 +160

And Columbus would be +1.5 -180 (or -190 depending on the books breakage)

As for the totals.......the "5o45" means the total of the game is 5 and the juice on the OVER (o) is -145.

So you would have as follows

    Detroit/Columbus over/under of

    5 over -145
    5 under +125

And as such, if a game read 5u40 it would just mean that the under would be the favored number, so we'd have

    5 over +120
    5 under -140

    Hope this helps

Thanks, excellent! Those guys at Don Best obviously don't like typing any more than I do.
