Even if your book does not offer -1 lines, you can create your own by using the puckline along with the moneyline bets. You will often get +odds with this strategy. I was wondering if this is the way to go to profit in hockey?

    Any thoughts?

It's not. Like any sport, you're just looking for value. Sure you'll probably get plus money on the bet but that's because if the game goes to OT you can't win. Books are fine with that tradeoff.

If the team you bets on wins in OT it is a push. It is not the same as the -.5 regulation bet.

I have glanced at some past results so far this year, and I found that -1 lines on teams ranging from -110 to -160 seem to hit 50% of the time. Of course I did not count the pushes. With +odds at 50%, this can be profitable.

        Today for example:

using -110 to -160 moneyline teams at the -1 line

        4 -2 -2 with Vancouver pending ..... they are up 3 -1

I don't have the whole season plotted out, but with just glancing at it, this method seems profitable. Maybe I'll do more research.

No, i'd rather go for -0.5 when you want to bet on a large favorite

-1 pucklines are most definitely the way to go

but at least you get your cash back. a push is a win in my mind. i guess it's a personal preference. i used to play -.05, i hated seeing the team i wagered win in OT and me losing cash. at least when the team i wagered on wins in OT with a -1 bet i get my cash back. but like i said, to each his own.

The advantage to me is that you can pick the team that is supposed to win --- the favorite. If the favorite wins by exactly 1, you push. But, you are getting plus odds for the better team. If you can pick and choose which games you feel most confident in, certainly you could hit 50% of these bets. You could make some nice profit.

Here is what I have today just for tracking:

                  Kings -1 (+153)
                  Canadiens -1 (+130)
                  Predators -1 (+153)
                  Sharks -1 (+107)
                  Avalanche -1 (+123)
                  Blues -1 (+110)
                  Senators -1 (+130)
                  Flyers -1 (+140)

I would probably have gone on the other side for a couple of these, but I wanna see what would happen.

Yesterday the result was a 5 -2 -2 record on -110 to -160 moneyline range. I used this range on the above plays. I find that this range is the best.
