The New Jersey Devils will be unable to enter Wednesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with the standard 20 players.
This is the second straight game the Devils will be forced to play shorthanded. The Devils played three short on Monday because Anton Volchenkov (broken nose) and Brian Rolston (lower body) were injured, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond was serving a suspension, and the Devils didn't have the cap room to call up replacements. The Devils won't have any suspended players on Wednesday, but Volchenkov and Rolston won't play. Until the Devils make a move to fix their salary cap situation, they could continue to compete with fewer players than their opponents.
