Hey guys. New to the forum and thought I would give posting a try this year. I have had the most success with NHL in the past. I pick a lot of dogs, so while my win percentage isn't as high as some, playing dogs and small favorites over the course of a season as you all know can be quite profitable.

I am a huge Hawks fan, and while I don't think they will be quite as good as last year, they will still be a contender in the West. That being said, this team is gonna have VERY inflated lines, especially early on. There are gonna be some good spots to fade the champions.

I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the lines that came out for the opener. I was really hoping Colorado would be +125 or higher.

Minnesota Wild - 120

Niklas Backstrom had a down year last year, and I believe a new season as well as starting the first game of the year in your hometown will give him extra motivation here. Backstrom also played in Helsinki in his early playing days, and he will no doubt be a fan favorite. The Wild will be a better offensive team this year (can't get much worse). A young Carolina team on the other hand make take a little time to gel. Minnesota will take one of these games across the pond.

October 7th, 2010 continued...

0-1 so far losing the first game of the year. Sloppy first game. Both teams looked extremely uninterested and undisciplined at times (Cam Barker). Don't know how he was the 3rd overall pick. Cam Ward looked good. Moving on.

Could very well go an unhealthy 0-3 the first day of the year, however I think there is some value in these dogs tonight. At the very worst I'm hoping for a 1-1 split to get a little profit back. Both these teams are tough, gritty teams that find a way to win. Even though they are playing teams that are out to prove something this year, both of these teams were in the playoffs last season and I don't think they are pushovers this year by any means. Could be digging myself an early hole (as I probably will), but throughout the course of a LONG season it always proves profitable to play solid underdog teams.

Will stick with my prediction that Minnesota takes one of these games in Helsinki. They really only played poor yesterday in the 2nd period, and today I think they will clean up some of the penalties. They need to be more physical to win. Locking in Buffalo now because I expect the line to keep dropping.

Thankfully 3 out of the 4 Minnesota penalties were offsetting. They certainly are playing a more physical game though. Hopefully they can push one or two across in the last 20 minutes.

Good job today and looks like your off to a good start to the season. I do agree +190 is really high for Avs but as a dedicated Wings fan(homer alert) I would not bet against them just yet. I watched there first 2 games and they are playing great right off the bat. They have no injuries at all and Howard had an opening night SO. They have looked better than any other team I have watched in this opening few days of action. There could be a chance Avalanche call on Budaj too since it is a B2B. GL whatever you chose.

Not crazy about today's card. Locking this one in early.

The Hawks should probably win this one at home after losing against Detroit, however they are playing just average right now. Nashville should have some fire tonight after being ousted by the Hawks in the first round last year. Strictly a value play.

The Islanders at +270 is just ludacris. The Capitals have to put a complete game together right? I'll be watching the lines on the games this afternoon, maybe something will jump out later in the day.

Well I got pretty lucky on tonights game. Another big dog cashing in. Caught a lucky penalty at the end of the game, much to this Hawks fan's dismay. 10-4 on the last 14 plays, all of them dogs.
