    Why are you betting preseason?
    Makes no sense at all.

Teams change up the goalies by the 2nd or 3rd period. For some teams it's a backup first then a 3rd string back up. Other teams its their starters then to a back up, or a 3rd string back up.

You do not know who is playing that night, or who is with who on what line.

For example the Lighting had most of there star players tonight on offense (st. louis, stamkos, lecav, gags) As where the Blackhawks had just Toews and Sharp out there with some goalie I never heard of before. And the no name goalie that was in the the Lightning came up big in the 3rd period helping the Lightning to a victory when they should have lost that game, to a Hawks team who had SEVERAL no name players on the bench. No body in there right mind knows what to expect from these no name goaltenders and players.

Save your money and wait until October 7th, it will be worth it

I'm waiting but it was painful seeing 7/9 overs hit. I love my overs.

Yeah I agree. Shortened squads, AHL and junior players playing the games, its a cointoss really.

Yeh that is a bit painful, but you know what, it is a long nhl season (about 1,200 regular season games + playoffs) We will make money that is a fact. Only 14 days now!

I have a feeling you and I are going to make a lot of people money with our picks. I also LOVE my overs as well. Game totals is what made me so successful last season. As well as betting a few games with lines by bookies that are way off.

Actually agree with baxter_man on this one. There's way too much going on that you can't account for.

Still, I'd be interested to know if home teams have a better winning percentage during the pre-season. They often have to dress their stars more than they do on the road to keep the season ticket holders happy.

How important is the NHL preseason?

Totals are where it's at in the NHL. ML's especially betting favorites consistently it's very tough to come out on top in the end with all the upsets. I will be doing mostly 1st period totals, game totals, team totals and some PL's this year.

phx said it best -- it's a coin toss.
therefore, the dogs have value preseason -- always value in the dogs here.
as well, look for lines that don't make sense -- then go the other way (vegas usually knows something we don't)
                          Money can be made.

In preseason, the odds are always greater than regular season. For example, look for the upcoming match St. Louis Blues - Minnesota Wild. +225 for min wild cannot be seen in regular season.

I don't use the pre-season to bet on, I use it to watch and get pumped for the regular season.

I have grown over the years to like football and now that Vick is in Philly and the starter I might actually start to watch it more and more. But I am with you, hockey is where it is at, best sport on earth, ever
