#57I'd like to hear your logic behind the NYI dark horse pick.Originally posted by ElevenI like the Islanders and Minny to be wild horses this year.

I find them to be pretty suspect at most positions, especially on defence, which is a need Garth Snow didn't really address with his signing of "difference-maker" Mark Eaton. Wisniewski is decent, but nothing special. Wisniewski is decent, but nothing special.

A backend consisting of Streit, Gervais, Wisniewski, Hillen, Eaton and Martinek is probably bottom-3 league wide amongst defensive cores. Combine this with suspect goaltending (DiPietro on the injury list for what seems like forever, and Roloson will be 41 by puck drop in October), and IMO you get a recipe for another 13th-15 place finish in the EC. As for the Isles offense, it is young and talented, but also highly unproven. Tavares, Bailey, Moulson, Okposo and Comeau would need to have exceptional seasons to get the NYI into a playoff position...Comment

#61The Isles are going to score a lot of goals likr you hint at with their offensive talent. And in todays NHL theres not much difference between teams these days. Last year they finished 8 points out a playoff spot, so it wont take a massive progression to make that leap. Im just banking on that youth to explode, theres no reason to expect that theyll stay the same or regress. The D is questionable but Roloson is solid.Originally posted by ochenta y cincoI'd like to hear your logic behind the NYI dark horse pick.
