I am leaning he will end up taking that 10 year 100 mil offer from Garth Snow to play on the Island.

It would be great for Tavares if he signed on the Island.

What a silly move not to go to LA with 7 or 8 talented young players over there

I agree. LA is the next up and coming team in the mold of Chicago. If Kovalchuk signs with LA for a reasonable price and allow the Kings to resign Doughty and Jack Johnson....they are on paper one of the most talented team in the league.

He would've brought hockey back to LA like the great one did 20 yrs ago.. Kings would hve been great, he would have loved HOT L.A.. sunny california, the movie stars, the great weather.. hockey would have been big in L.A. again.. he is fun to watch and would have brought the fans back...too bad.

Exactly what I was thinking. If he could score 50 goals over there with the team they already have....the excitement over hockey would be something. Anyways, I think there are tons of awesome young players around but what would be make hockey return close to the kind of product i had growing up in the 80's would be to slash at least 4 teams from existence (south east teams) so that many teams can once again possess 3 effective line, move 2 teams to Canada (Quebec and Winnepeg) and to shrink the goalie pads so that a winger can once again score with a long distance slap shot as he flies down the ice one on one with the D man....some things that would bring back some of the beauty and artistry and pure unbridled enjoyment back into the game.

Only one Russian has the power to do that and that's Ovechkin. Kopitar is a better all around player than Kovalchuk anyways. Kovalchuk is a cancer and still has the worst haircut in the league.
