Gonchar signs 3 year, $5.5M deal with Sens
Ottawa loses tough defencemen Andy Sutton and Anton Volchenkov to free agency and adds one of the best offensive defencemen. I like the move but I think that the Sens will still need another gritty defencemen to add toughness.

Gonchar is a productive player when healthy. The question is at 35, can he stay healthy for 3 years considering he played 25 and 62 games the past two seasons.

As a Pens fan I sort of don't mind losing Gonch now that we've brought in Michalek and Martin. Let the Sens be strapped with that 5.5 million for Gonchar for the next 3 years. They aren't going to see as much production out of him and his stats will drop drastically year after year IMO.

I think the Pens take a step back on the power play... We all know they struggled when he wasn't on the ice....

They probably do. I'm hoping Letang and Goligoski can play a bigger role on the Powerplay. Michalek can play on the powerplay as well.

Must be nice to be 35 and past your prime and still raking in 5.5 mil a season.

I'd rather have Pronger than Gonchar @ 35.

Gonchar is done. He just signed his retirement contract. Terrible move by OTT.

Sens might be a team to watch in the upcoming season...

Agree 100% they are handcuffed with that contract for 3 years.
