Hamhuis have always been under the shadow of Weber and Suter in Nashville but he is a very solid defensman. Good trade by the Flyers in my opinion as they got one of the most coveted D in this free agent class.

#2Traded for the rights to negotiate for Hamhuis, but very likely he will sign with them unless he is an a-hole. And I was hoping my Nucks would get him

#8Haha yeah I remember you bitching about Parent a few times. I still have slight hope that Hamhuis shafts you guys and signs with his home province CanucksOriginally posted by cecil127when i got word of this yesterday i was (and still am) elated beyond words.

odds are not good of this happening unfortunately. You guys have good enough D already. Ours is a mess and we could use a physical, stay at home D-man like Hammy.

#9well, that deal sure speaks to his worth. by that i mean: this guy gets traded for simply the right to entertain another with offers to play for the team you just got booted from.

#17Doesn't look like he will sign in Philly. The Flyers just traded his rights to Pittsburgh for a 3rd round pick in 2011.Comment -

#18Yup he won't be signing in Philly. Time to shaft the Pens please Hammy and come to Vancouver, where you wanna play
The elure of Crosby, Malkin et al and all those Stanley Cup banners might sway him though. Then again he would have to play Philly many times a year and endure some harsh booing

#19Do you think he is worth north of 4.5 million per season? He's solid defensively, but not shutdown. He picks up assists, but doesn't have a good shot. I don't know.Comment -

#20Nah I'd say he is worth around 3 - 4 or so. I wouldn't pay $5 mill a year for him.Originally posted by MetalheadDo you think he is worth north of 4.5 million per season? He's solid defensively, but not shutdown. He picks up assists, but doesn't have a good shot. I don't know.Comment -

#21He already turned down 4 million in Philly. He also said he was going to test free agency. But he might give a hometown discount to Vancouver and sign there for 4 million. The boo birds in Philly would be real loud.Comment -

#22Yup I have a feeling he is gonna shaft the Pens too and sign with the Canucks. I think that's where he wants to be. I expect around a 4-4.5 mill deal with them maybe slightly less.Originally posted by MetalheadHe already turned down 4 million in Philly. He also said he was going to test free agency. #25The Canucks can't afford him. They still need to add 5 more roster players, and have less than 8.5 million to do it with (2-3.5 million of which will likely go to re-signing Mason Raymond).Comment -

People forget that we have a lot of dead weigh on the back end making 3 mill a year aka Bieksa. I am pretty sure he will be traded now.

So that's 9 defenseman the Canucks have on contract now. Gillis is going to be screwed if he can't find takers for all that dead weight.
