Markov out with torn ACL. I say at minimum he will miss this series, but could be back to play with a brace. Stranger things have happened.

I don't think he'll be back this playoffs. Rehab after surgery for a torn ACL takes months.

It's not as simple as putting on a brace.

you can tough out an ACL tear. Happens more often that one thinks. I am hearing though that Markov is out for the remainder of the playoffs.

only if it's a partial tear. You can't tough out a complete tear, because the knee will just not support you in a lot of hockey moves.

An ACL injury is not really a pain issue. It's an issue of the fundamental structure of the knee being compromised.

So if there's a complete tear, there's no such thing as toughing it out.

Well said, from what I've heard they're nothing at all to eff around with. Tough or no...Think the Habs will still be good to go as Pitt has it's own injuries. Ciao

the main one being Staal, a very important player.

Staal skated today but will probably miss at least the next three games. He had a tendon on his foot lacerated by Subban's skate, IIRC.

Spacek could be back on the ice any day now, lessening the impact of losing Markov. Montreal didn't seem too affected by his absence in game 2 in any case.
