Boston gets very little credit. Their 2nd half was pretty good, I would not be surprised if they reach the conference finals, losing there to Washington or Pittsburgh

My dog pick is for sure Boston. Look for that series to be a grind with low scoring games.

i love the fact that we're both total homers and as such are both scared chitless of the other team....i think that speaks volumes to this rivalries history. ill admit to having flashbacks of scott stevens and claude lemieux today while pondering how much chingy to lay on the series bet. sure brodeur deserves respect. will he get it from anyone playing for the flyers? probably not. expect goalie crashes as hartnell tries setting up shop in martys kitchen and getting in his head. im fully expecting bouch to give up a few but hoping for the under tonight. bol devils and flyers fans

ill put my remaining 3 points on marty giving up the first goal off of a rebound. how about 3/1 odds tj?

              Bet!

I am more worried about frigging Carcillo. IMO, he is much more effective than Avery as he will actually, ya know, be tough.

good to know we share some common ground. nothing prettier than seeing scotty feeding avery(the goon) a knuckle sandwich earlier this season.
tortorella cant even stand him. why else would he bench the lil prick for the final game vs a team he had his best game against all year that tells ya something right there....

TJ - I'm a huge Flyers fan but Brodeur is the man... I think Brodeur is your biggest stregth coming into the playoffs. I really believe the Devils and Fyers are about evenly matched as you could be for a playoff series.... I would give the Flyers the upper hand if they have a "Goalie"???? BUT we don't and this series is about how the Flyers can consistently score against Broduer and Boucher stopping a puck... I guess will see in about a week or so...

Washington might somehow win this series in 3 games.
I agree that WSH are the favorites (picked them to win in hockey pool as well) but I was just saying that If i was offered the right odds I think that it would +EV because of WSH's goal tending questions plus the fact that they split points this season between them.

I hope you are right, but I am even more negative than I was 72 hours ago and I am usually one of those "my team is going to kick your team's ass" kinda people.

The Flyers are a better team than the Devils. Their forwards are better structured. Yeah, maybe the Top six is better for the Devils but they have more talent dispersed through the twelve forwards. We have third and fourth lines that were basically retired until Lamoriello plucked their from the weeds, a few AHL'ers, and goddamn Brian Rolston. The defense is better than every single Devils aside from Martin and, because of that, Parise and Kovy are being shut down by Pronger and the frustration is mounting 60 minutes in!

The Flyers are better on specials, too. They kill penalties, and their powerplay isn't abysmal. On the other hand, the Devils make up for their lack of killing penalties with an equally clueless powerplay (stick tap to the late John McKay for that line).

The only reason the Flyers are seventh is because they were damn near sunk by the Wheel-o'-Goaltender. However, like I said, the Devils will figure out a way to help along a third-string goaltender in finding his confidence. The first period was a bit of luck for Boucher with a few nice saves and a couple of escapes but the next forty was all Boucher, confidence at 100%.

It doesn't help that the team couldn't get 30 shots despite having 12 minutes of power play time. They only gave up 14 because the Flyers were too busy killing penalties and were in such a defensive shell that I was half waiting for Claude Julian to come out and coach the third. Of course, why bother with offense when your opponent will play defense for you via sloppy passes, missed nets, and a constant barrage of off-side calls.

The Devils can still win, of course, the Flyers aren't that much better. But the Devils are playing with a severe handicap ... Jacques Lemaire. The powerplay doesn't suck because the players don't know what they're doing ... It's because Lemaire has them doing it wrong. His increasingly idiotic logic, line combinations, and infuriating tactics are being read like a book by Philadelphia's coaching staff. His tired, predictable ways are going to kill this team.

The good news is I had a nice day on bases. I wouldn't be complaining here about this game but I don't want to be around Devils fans right now on forums. We've seemed to have found a nice niche of a fanbase where if you are seventeen years old and a girl, you like the Devils and blame everything on Ilya Kovalchuk. I'd rather drool on my keyboard here and wait until tomorrow to pay up on the baddest beat in the history of bad beats ... a one cenimeter rebound!

                                    No, wait ...

Its frikin Boucher, so dont worry over a 7 game series he will end up killing the flyers. Once he lets in a softie it will put the entire flyers defense into panic mode. The only way the devils dont win this is if marty blows it. If he plays average marty in net then the devils will pull this out, they can win on the road a few times if they have to.........but if he gets way out of position like on that richards goal then philly will be right there.....but I like Devils in 7 still, if Philly even had tim thomas in net i would lean towards them but boucher will be exposed

i love flyer haters...it's playoff hockey, anything can happen. Flyers played all around good hockey in game 1 and Boucher was solid. Yes, Brouder is the better goalie but once again, it's playoff hockey.
