I hope the Olympics gets me out of this rut. 2 losses in the last 3, not good.

I am taking the UNDER in the US/ Swiss game today. I think the combo of the US lines getting adjusted plus the goaltending from Hiller will stall the onset of the offense. I see this a 3-1 type of game. The US will probably cover but if they do it will be because of their defense.

So my first 2010 Olympic pick is UNDER 6 in the opening game.

I have already posted that I think the Russians will fail to medal. Probably very unpopular opinion.

They will not fail here. The blue liners for Team Russia are prolific scorers. Gonchar and Markov will dominate the PP. Semin is playing unbelievable right now. I think Russia wins this game 7-0 or 7-1.

Why do I think the Russians fail to medal? I will explain more later. But I don't see this team gelling like USA, Canada, Sweden and the Czechs. They have an awesome roster. I like seeing Federov for the locker room. But, I am still seeing a disappointment.

Oh they will metal place but the power house of the CANADA will not let them get gold! maybe a silver but definitely a bronze. US I do not think is gonna place LOL. J/K it will be CANADA-GOLD, Then US and Russia in for the silver bronze medals.

SWEDEN -3.5

The Germans are looking at the same problem as Belarus. Penalties cause Power Plays which cause goals.

The Swedes have excellent playmakers and skaters. I look for them to work the edge of the rink as the Germans try to take away the center of the rink. This will probably work for a short time but the Swedes' crisp stick to stick passing and sharp edges will breakdown the German defense often. I look for a statement here by the Swedes. The Germans may try to play a rougher game which could lead to more PKs and even more goals.

I see this as a 5-0 or 6-1 game for Sweden. If the Germans do decide to rough up the finesse Swedes, it could be worse.

The Swedes will need to play tougher tonight if they are to cover the 3.5 goals. I thought both Sedins and Nick Backstrom played soft in the first game. I am wondering if this group is too finesse to win in the medal round.

I think the US win todays game 3-2. Seems like everyone is on the UNDER but I disagree. I think this game is played pretty wide open. Power Plays will be the deciding factor if either teams gives up more than 3. These "All Star" lineups have some cohesion now.

I am taking Slovakia tonight for the Bronze. Looked like Fins came unglued against the US. Ollie Jokinen was clearly rattled. I think Slovakia will use the momemtum they gained at the end of the Canada to roll through Finland.
