Now I know Ottawa are some of the biggest choke artists in the league, so I'm not suggesting they will actually win the cup, but DAMN! They just trashed the Pens 4-1 in Pittsburgh and now have a seven (or did they just make it eight?) game winning streak. I don't have the games in front of me but in addition to their win tonight this streak also includes a 3-0 win over Jersey, in Jersey. Suddenly a very scary team to bet against.

As long as their goaltending duo will be Leclaire-Elliott, Ottawa will be going nowhere near the Stanley Cup finals.
Considering the new reality of the NHL, unless you're super deep at every position and play your coach's system impeccably (like Detroit did with Osgood in goal for the past 2 seasons -- there's the exception), you're not going anywhere without a top goalie.
Think of the recent Cup winners:
2004 Tampa Bay with Khabibulin
2005 No Cup Winner
2006 Carolina with a young Cam Ward playing a stellar game
2007 Anaheim while Giguere was in the elite of NHL goalies
2008 Detroit... the exception I talked about. Osgood is a proven playoff performer too, dating back to the 90s.

They have the team to make it to the playoffs, but it's to early to talk about contenders. Like ochenta y cinco points out they have no proven goalie. There #1 is in the IR. His been inconsistent at best all year. What happens when he comes back? The sens are a great home team thats why the most impressive stat about the streak is the fact they won 5 straight on the road. They were 3-13 road before this. During their streak they played a poor boston team 2 times, a rangers team that cannot score, n-j had lost 5of7 .... What will happen when they lose one? will they go on a 4 game loosing streak?Comment -
