I would be surprised if Carolina doesn't trade Jokinen soon. He could help a second tier playoff team, and the 'Canes are going young.

Jussi would be a nice pick up for any team. I agree that the bottom teams like canes'/oilers will prob have a fire sale with their players. There are many solid additions from any of those teams.

Funny you bring up kovi deuce. I was just talking about possible acqusitions for him with my teammates last night. My suggestion was perry/bobby ryan or even throw giguere in there some how for him. Pretty doubtful, but I would love to see illya in anaheim. He would also fit in good with the kings.

I would love to see Illya go to LA but there is nothing of interest besides kopi.

How about Scotty going to the Devils to win another cup with his bro, after the olympics? Seems pretty obvious....

NJ isn't going anywhere. 1st round playoff knock out by NYI.

Don't get your hopes up. Nothing will get done until after the Olympics and there will only be 2 or 3 minor deals before deadline day. Thats the way it always seems to shake out.

I'm hearing Colby Armstrong back to Pitts.

I'm also hearing LeCavalier will waive his NTC to go to NYR for 4 players who include Gilroy, Callahan, Dubinsky and another player who is likely Redden. I wouldn't touch Redden with JJ "Douchebag" Gold's little prick.

Kovalchuk to the Bruins for Blake Wheeler, a prospect and Toronto's 1st round draft pick in 2010. Makes sense as both Kovi and Savard both played and had success as linemates a few years back.

Do you mean that because of the olympics there will only be a few minor deals, and that is what commonly happens after an Olympic break?

Throw in a top prospect and it could likely get done. Dealing with Kovi is risky. Actually dealing with any Russian born player (my fav players other than Canadian born players) is risky.

I still get sick when I think about Burke giving away Bryzgalov for free to phx, and then giving Giguere a huge contract

so-called "blockbuster trades" are really tough to pull off these days because of the cap and how close to the cap many teams are...

yeah that must be a tough one to swallow now that's for sure. No one knew that Giguere would be fighting to be a #1 goalie. Burke was handcuffed. He need to make room on the roster/salary cap so he had to give him away. I always liked Bryzgalov and he is the only reason why Phoenix is where they are in the standing this year.

I would think the Montreal Canadiens are going to be on the market for a top-6 forward... Someone mentionned Jussi Jokinen, he's the type of guy Gainey will be after IMO, with A. Kost being out for at least another month.
