Since the beginning of the 09-10 season, I've been making plays on the NHL sporadically until this week since I didn't have much time up until the Holiday season to sit down and look at match ups on a daily basis. However, my schedule now allows me to take an in-depth look pretty much every day of the week, and I officially started this betting sequence on Sunday, going 1-0 (+1u) with the DAL-CBJ under.
On Monday, I was 2-0 (+3.1u) as my only plays were Sharks ML and U 5.5 COL-CGY. Last night was a bit more tough, as I went 1-2 (-1u). My plays were: WSH ML, U5.5 DET-NYI and NSH ML. The under was a tough blow, as the goal that brought the total to 6 was a meaningless one, at 17:00 of the 3rd frame in a 6-0 NYI win.
At this point, my leans for tonight's action are:
1) BOS vs ANA - 1st Period Under 1.5 (-133)
I'm going to wait confirmation on who's going to start in goal for both teams. Tim Thomas and Jonas Hiller are expected, but I can't find any site to confirm the info. Under Claude Julien, the B's play a pretty defensive-minded game, especially on the road. On the other hand, Hiller single-handedly won the Ducks' last game against CHI, making 40+ saves for the shutout, with ANA getting only 12 SOG on Niemi. Can the Ducks' offense be this opportunistic once again, this time facing a pretty solid goalie? I highly doubt so.
The "Under 5" for this game is also tempting, but I'm hesitant. I would have prefered the 5.5 line obviously...
2) PIT vs CGY - Under 5.5 (-120)
I'm expecting a bounce back performance from M-A Fleury, who let in a few goals he'd have liked to have back in Monday's game vs the Wild. On the CGY side, goal-scoring is not coming so easily as of late, with Iginla being on a bit of a cold streak. His line with Jokinen and Lundmark hasn't done much in the past 2-3 games. Secondary scoring is also hard to come by for CGY, with Rene Bourque being the only top-6 who's producing at a solid rate right now. Also, Miikaa Kiprusoff can always be relied upon to keep his team in the game. I think we may be in for a close one at the Saddledome... a typical CGY home game.
