It's a lazy approach which leaves money on the table. If your team has very little overtimes and even less overtime wins, why would you take ML instead of a reg win? For example Minnesota had 7 OT wins in 2017, 4 in 2018, and 0 this season. That's 11 OT wins and 18 losses in 175 games with a 16.5% OT rate. Knowing that, I'm never taking them on ML, I'll rather take a reg win at +150 instead of -110 ML.
