#59Good afternoon,
Since we have a break in the action today, I thought I would share this with everyone. For many years, way before the internet, I have been tracking/using umpires when I did my baseball handicapping. Last year I started looking at NHL refs and trying to determine if they had any influence in determining the total of a game. I think I may have found a formula using the following criteria:
Goals/Gm – Combined goals scored per game
PP/Gm – Combined power plays per game
Minors/Gm – Minor penalty calls per game
Penl/Gm – Penalty calls per game
PIM/Gm – Penalty minutes per game
The theory is, the more penalties in a game, the more power plays and hopefully more scoring. It is just one factor, but I have always tried to keep my handicapping simple, and this one is fairly simple. I know my "guy" that gives me his total plays uses refs, but he also takes into account many other factors. I know this is after the fact, and no one has to believe me, but last night the formula went 7-1...... go figure. I was thinking of posting these for tracking purposes only and to give more info for those that do their own handicapping. Of course I will continue to post my friend's plays.
We'll call these Ref Plays and I do NOT recommend playing them blindly, at least until we have more historical evidence that they win. They could fall on their ass or just be too inconsistent, I just don't know at this time.
Finally, there are many days I can't get the ref info (it's not posted) so I will not be able to post any Ref Plays.

I re-posted my post so anyone that missed it can read it.
Here are the Ref Plays for Saturday:
As I mentioned in the previous post, I am posting these so we can track them. THESE ARE NOT MY "GUY's PLAYS and I do not recommend playing them blindly, at least for now.
For the sake of time I will use just one team and use -110 as an average line.
Vegas over 6
Edm under 6
Car over 6
Tor under 6.5
Van over 6.5
St. Louis under 6.5
Back later with our regular plays
