A trend I have noticed year after year, I will start to look for UNDERs now

A few theories as to why this happens:

1. Offensive skill players slow down as they get beat up slowly over the year. These players take the most punishment as defensive players target them.

3. As the significance of games increases coaches have players making more conservative plays and taking less chances, a lot fewer odd man rushes and speed game as the season goes.

2. Refs tend to call less penalties as the season progresses and games have more meaning. Refs dont want to decide games naturally even if the NHL wants them to call every ticky-tac penalty, that quickly stops after a month or two.

3. Defensive players that cant handle the pressure get sent down or step their game up. only 6 defensive spots per team so they can afford to be selective.

Yup you are bang on sir. Overs usually start very strong early in 1st periods I find. Then things slow down in the first and game totals pick up. Then late in the last month unders between playoff contenders are easy money usually.

Of my last 5 1st period over loses, 4/5 of them the game total has gone over. So frustrating
