Chicago Blackhawks vs. Winnipeg Jets // Feb 10

    Western showdown

There are only two games in the NHL tonight, luckily the Hawks and Jets provide some Western conference entertainment. The Chicago BlackHawks (33-17-5) head north to take on the Winnipeg Jets (25-27-4). Although they are in different positions in the standings, the two teams always play each other tight, especially at the MTS Centre.

    Blackhawk down?

For a team that is cruising towards the postseason with 71 points in the Central Division, the Hawks have had their fair share of struggles when facing the Jets this season. The Hawks have not beat the Jets this season with a 0-4 record.

Other than their Jets jinx, it has been all systems go for the Blackhawks. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games and 10-5 in their last 15. On the road this year, the Hawks are 15-10-1. The Hawks got an even bigger monkey off their back on Wednesday when they beat the Minnesota Wild, before that the Hawks hadn’t won a game agains the Wild in nine games. They will try and do the same tonight against the pesky Jets.

    Trouble in the sky

The Jets have been shaky as of late and that does no bode well for a team that is fighting for their playoff lives. The Jets are six points behind the Wild Card holders and have not been consistent. They are 5-5 in their last 10 and are 13-12-1 at home this season.

The Jets are top-ten in the league in scoring, averaging 2.9 points per game. However, they are also 27th in the league in goals against. The Jets give up a ghastly average of 3.1 goals per game. The Jets had a three-game winning streak, but lost their last two games to the Colorado Avalanche and the Wild in an ugly fashion. Against the Avs, the Jets gave up five goals and against the Wild they gave up four.

    The Final Breakdown

Although the Hawks are 0-4 against the Jets this season, they are 11-4 against them on the road since 2000. Before this 0-4 streak, they were 17-7 against the Jets. They get out of that slump tonight and get back on the winning side of things.
