Predictions for after the All Star break.
Nashville Predators and New York Islanders are two teams I will be tailing a lot in the upcoming months. Predators had a couple of key injuries and have still kept pace in the West. The Islanders look like a new team since firing their coach. They were underachieving all season so now they turn it around.

I think the St. Louis Blues got a shot at getting hot, but that all depends on goaltending. Carter Hutton has shown signs of potential.

I believe we've seen the best of the Columbus Blue Jackets. It was very cool watching that young team go on that run. But the NHL season is very long. I feel they peaked at the wrong time. Bobrovsky can't start them all and their backup, Forsberg, is young and quite frankly, less than impressive.

    Playoff team predictions.
East: Capitals, Penguins, Rangers, Canadiens, Blue Jackets, Bruins, Islanders, Flyers. I could see the Leafs in there also, maybe instead of the Flyers.

West: Blackhawks, Wild, Oilers, Sharks, Ducks, Predators, Kings, Stars. I believe the Flames, Blues and Jets will be close as well.

    I like the thread.
I see Canes, Laffs, and NYI with a shot of getting in.
    Don't see Flameouts.

Canes are my local team so I follow them closely. They have 34 games left, 19 home games and 15 away games. Most of their road games are against the East, so that's good for them. Cam Ward has lost four straight. You can see him wearing out and getting frustrated. He's started 41 out of their 48 games. That's insane. Canes have worst save % in the league. However, they have great Corsi numbers. Who knows with them..

I really don't know why they play so well at home. Poor attendance and hardly any cheering or crowd support.

38 or 39 is usually the minimum amount of wins necessary to make the playoffs. Not likely for the Canes to reach that. You will likely be correct on o34.5, but barely. Just depends on how soon they pack it in. They've lost five straight and will likely lose three of their next five.
