I see some blogs here and it's obvious , big time fans of hockey reside . I have given up on this league around 1997. Betman tried desperatley to change the game due to pressure from writers. The battle cry was it's just to violent , not enough penalties. The writers beat the league on everyturn. In fact, I recall one playoff year when the OT. record was broke in playoff series. But that wasent the issue, not how exciting hockey is but how do we change it. The attempt was to become pure skill league. The only problem was to many teams way to many players . There wasent 200 superstar players to make the game like European hockey. But that didnt stop the league from trying. So new rule #1 instigating. This simply allowed the sticks to fly and the wimps to roam free without fear. Who would take a penality to lose a game when the wuzzy turtled? Then came 2 refs. And now you have the "new" NHL. Phantom calls are the norm and accepted. Play stops are constant. Last night Vancover lost due to a "pahntom" call that turned momentum. You guys still love this game and back it. But when is enough , enough for you? Its no longer hockey ! Its garbage suspensions fake calls diving and a sport who is outa touch with what fans want , violence. If anyother league stoped play like hockey there would be a riot. Nfl , NBA both have constant "fouls" but the refs let them play. Why? Because the other leagues know what sells and what dosent. The games changed and not for the better. So why dont you guys change too, CHANGE THE STATION!!

While I agree that hockey has become somewhat sissified, there have been some changes for the better. Two line pass, delayed offsides, goalie pad size requirements all have helped to increase scoring and speed the game up. Hockey is also still very physical and fun to watch.Comment -
There have been some good and bad changes. The instigator rule is retarded though. Fighting is a crucial and necessary part of hockey, I wish there was more fighting.
I am glad they call more obstruction penalties. Back in the trap days hockey was pretty boring. The Devils would get up 2-0 and then just send in one forward the rest of the game long and clog up the neutral zone. But yeah there are a lot of borderline pussy calls as I would call them. Like when you touch the guys glove with your stick for 0.8 seconds and they call it, that isn't right.
All in all I am still pretty happy with the NHL, but there are a few things they could fix.Comment -
