Seems most recent off-season tweaks to MLB/NHL (and NBA) models have done the trick, but lord only knows if that is only temporary.

I personally believe that situational angles play a larger role in NFL than in any other sport. The numbers, while obviously vital, can only be used as a piece of the pie. With so few games each season, each game being of such higher value than any other sport, and each team having more or less an entire week to scheme for their next opponent, relevant trends and situational plays become as important as any statistical model.
