#5It all depends on the situation. With the instigator rule, you could really put your team in the hole. Bergeron kicked the sh1t out of Gorges, but the game was already in hand so the penalty minutes didn't matter.Comment -

#8What most people don't realize is that fights in the most recognized form (not the facewash/shoving after the play form, but the true square up and fight) are generally just used to get the crowd and/or the team pumped up. If your team is having an off night at home and is down a few goals, you send your enforcer out there to start some shit to get everyone cheering and get the energy level back up. Usually the other team will oblige as they can feed off that energy, too.
Playoff hockey is the EPITOME of energy, and there isn't a single guy on either team that isn't giving it their all (and if there is, they won't get motivated for ANYTHING). Crowds are also as pumped as they are going to possibly be. There really isn't a need for the staged fight.
That is why you see so many more scrums and crosschecks and facewashes; thats the real gritty stuff that comes out even more in the playoffs.Comment -

there were a few minutes in the 2nd period of that game with nice up and down action. Two of the Philly goals were off of nice quality passes.bird bird da bird's da wordComment -

#12THE RESON IS INSITGATOR RULE THAT IS A HUGE PART IN THE "NEW" NHL.So now a small lil guy can poke a big guy without getting his ass kicked. The result is alot of "huggin" after the whistle. If this lame league would know what hockey is all about they would get rid of the insti. rule stop callin these phantom cheap calls and let the boys play !!!Comment
