Agree with you on the value. Initially I wanted to make this bet. However, after analyzing it further I can't pull the trigger. I have Colorado, Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis, Anaheim, San Jose, Los Angeles making the playoffs. That leaves one spot for the Oilers to claim and with Minnesota improved and Arizona in the mix it is going to be tough. Edmonton finished with 67 pts. last season. So you are asking them for a 23 point or so improvement to make it in. That's asking a lot from a team that has questionable coaching and a bad defense.

I like the Oilers but think they are still a year away from being a playoff team, look for them to improve each year thereafter as well. The pieces are nearly in place but they need to add some defense.

Just my take, a value play indeed. Best of luck to you.

Offensively they can compete with west teams but need consistent goaltending. Think they miss out again this year

Definitely Leafs to miss the playoffs. They aren't going to magically turn into a playoff team overnight, and there's a decent chance they have a worse record this year.

...or Under 3 CAN teams make the playoffs.

EDM, CGY, WIN are automatically out. MTL and OTT should make it but far from guaranteed. VAN and TOR will fight for wild cards at best.

Edmonton NO is a mortal lock. Team is horrific and totally botched their long term success with merely taking the "best player available" with all those top draft picks. Hall is a trainwreck and they have no goaltending. -300 is a gift.
