Philly games in 1st period = not much scoring lately
Just did a little research on Philly in the 1st period - they have scored a total of 1 goal over their last 5 in the first period, and opposing teams have netted 2 in the last 4. They seem to turn it up in the 2nd period, so betting the Under in Philly games lately have turned sour (for me anyways)...better to bet on 1st period (Under 1.5) if you're going to play it.
Today (vs. Montreal) it's at -135...maybe worth a stab as Montreal does not score - nor surrender much in 1st period.

Just trying to find some angles - maybe help someone cash...no guarantees, but finding trends help.

1st Period nhl season (thru 43/44 games)
    Phil - GF = 30; GA = 22 (2nd best)
    Mont - GF = 32; GA = 26 (7th best)

I've generally found that the more dominant stat is the GA between the 2 teams. Tough defenses normally trump good offenses...at least from what I've seen.

Historically, these 2 teams will go under the total. last 4 of 6 these 2 have played IN Philly have gone under. The under 5 (+127 @ Pinnacle) looks like a solid play tonight.
