Hi all, I don't post often as I'm still a rookie capper but I have noticed there are some exceptional values tonight when looking at the -1.5 lines.
#1 - Atlanta -1.5 (3.00)
Toronto played the night before. In the 2nd half of their back to backs this year, they are 1-4 SU, losing by 3, winning by 1 (a short trip from Toronto to NJ), losing by 2, losing by 3, and losing by 6. They have already played once in ATL, and the Leafs won 6-2, but the Leafs were jacked up in front of rookie goalie Pogge who was playing his first game. Thrashers played better against OTT the other night, and the atmosphere in their building will be jacked (all the travelling Leafs fans).
#2 - Florida -1.5 (3.05)
The Flyers goal scoring is way down from their average over the last 10 games, and the Panthers are flying (points in five straight, 4 of those were victories by at least 2 goals). Again, the Cats get a team that played last night (and not very well at that), and are at home. Timonen could be out after taking a puck to the face and leaving the game against TB. 3-1 sounds just about right.
#3 - Colorado -1.5 (3.10)
Edmonton stinks. They play with enough spunk most nights, but their games are always a mess. I don't know how many of you watched the TSN hi-lites tonight, but they mentioned a quote from Cal Clutterbuck of the Wild who stomped the Greasers last night that said something to the effect of "over the last 10 minutes they basically gave up, it was like they didn't want to win." Exactly what I thought as I watched the game. They play a sloppy defensive game, both goalies can't be trusted to play a full 60, and the trip from Minny to Colorado is no joke. Colorado is also travelling from STL, but they played Budaj (who is one of the worst starters in the league) last night and are likely to go with Raycroft again against EDM (who has been on fire of late). COL has won 5 in row at home against EDM.
None of these three are locks, but you only have to hit one to break even if you play them all. I think there are strong arguments for all three, and I am going to play each for a small wager. Would love to hear your comments. Cheers!
