GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Phoenix Coyotes avoided going in front of an arbitrator with Mike Comrie, signing the center to a one-year contract on Friday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada is reporting Comrie will make $3 million next season. In 2005-06, he received $1.748 million.
Comrie was one of two hearings scheduled for Friday for Phoenix, with left wing Ladislav Nagy being the other.
"With the larger, more physical team that we intend to ice this year, players like Mike Comrie should thrive," Coyotes general manager Michael Barnett said. "We were pleased to settle Mike's contract without arbitration."
In his first full season with the Coyotes, Comrie tied for the team lead in goals (30) with Shane Doan. It was the second time that the five-year player reached the 30-goal plateau.
A third-round pick of Edmonton in 1999, the 26-year-old Comrie also had 30 assists as he matched a career high in points with 60.
Acquired from Philadelphia in February 2004 for goaltender Sean Burke, Comrie has recorded 103 goals, 114 assists and 217 points in 321 career games with the Oilers, Flyers and Coyotes.
