question about NHL betting

in regulation time, what is the difference between -0.5 and ML?

cos in soccer that would mean the same thing with the same odds.
but in hockey the odds are different between the 2 bets.

If a game goes to OT, you would a get a push with regulation ML, you would lose with -0.5
