please explain nhl odds

guys i just dont get this.
nhl spread 1st 60 mins ( i know no over time counts) for example Carolina Hurricanes (1st 60 min) - 1/2 +123 while the ml is -140 for the same first 60 mins.
to me -1/2 is the same as ml right.

wht am missing?

-.5 means regulation only. must win in regulation not OT
ML counts a win in OT as well

ML first 60 minutes has the ability to push if that's what you mean.

There's actually a lot of variance in these rules, depending on the bookie. Ask your bookie or always play the +/- o,5
