CONFUSION !! WTF is O/U 5.25 pts

looking to bet on the total of the Nucks/Hawks game tonight on SBObet. I know their totals are for reg. time only. But what then is the difference between some of their odds which are o/u 5.5 and 5.25?

They split your bet in half so if you bet $20
$10 is on over 5 and the other $10 is on over 5.5

Mainly used in soccer totals.
