2013 - NHL Picks - McRae

After a rather eye opening first couple of weeks into this short season, ready to start making some picks:

Jan 31 Picks: San Jose -1.5 vs. Edmonton - $50 to win $80
San Jose to win vs Edmonton moneyline - $100 to win $55
Calgary -1.5 vs Colorado - $50 to win $95
Calgary to win vs Colorado, moneyline - $100 to win $65

Looking to take advantage of a couple of tired road teams playing back to back nights. Both of these games might be tight early but by the end of the night the visitors will tire out. Expect San Jose to win 5-2 vs Edmonton (6-3 win last week for San Jose on the road against the Oil) and a pretty mundane match-up between two lackluster teams so far in Calgary and Colorado, I see Calgary beating the offense starved Avalanche 3-0. I don't usually play the puckline but given the back to back games by both of these visiting teams I think once they get down it will be a stat padding evening for San Jose and Calgary. Simply leveraging the moneyline picks with the puckline plays to get a better payout given my expectation.

Sorry - This thread is just to track record and profit/loss through the season. Please comment on where you feel I am way off base on my picks as always good to here a different perspective. Will mainly be playing some sides but will mix in some pucklines and over/under to spice things up.

I like Calgary a lot but am on Edmonton ML. They have momentum, Dubnyk and defence have had a couple of great games and San Jose probably shouldn't have won against Anaheim the other night. I suspect a bit of sluggishness and I think their run comes to an end tonight, 2-1 to Edmonton.

I can't really argue with the Edmonton moneyline play based simply on the price they are getting. I just think San Jose is looking rock solid right now and should be able to pick up a win against a tired squad.This was a tough pick because I am an Oilers fan.

Bad start. Kiprusoff was absolutely awful in the Calgary game not to mention how sloppy their defense was with the puck in their own end; 20 shots, 5 goals, none of them coming on what I would call great scoring chances.
