Wouldn't get too excited about wins over Winnipeg and Florida (likely non-playoff teams) but Ottawa should definitely be a playoff team this year with a chance to do some damage in the post-season. That's why I bet $10 on them to win the cup

Its 1 game which means nothing. These guys had 4 days of traning camp and have no systems in play. Its like pond hockey right now.Not to take anything away from sens i do think they are a good young team.

I don't have much faith in my Sens winning the cup (yes, I am a Sens fan), but they cannot be discounted offhand.

They have one of the easiest travel schedules & only 8 B2B games.

They have many young talented players.

This will probably be Alfie's swan song season & the players will be stepping it up for him.

Paul Maclean has done a fantastic job coaching the team.

They have over 18M in cap space this year.

Their defense is hurting.


All things considered, they should go to the dance & if there is a reasonable chance, I can see Melnyk (Drug Dealer of the legal variety ) opening the wallet to take a shot at it.
