    NHL Monday :
The Vancouver Canucks are coming from a pair of losses in home and home series against rivals Calgary.

Columbus stopped a 2 game losing streak with a 3-0 home win against Washington in last game.

The Canucks are heading East to play Columbus tonight. First game in new time zone. Vancouver is showing some holes in defensive game since a big come from behind win against Detroit on home ice. Indeed, the Canucks known as a good defensive team were outshot in last 3 games giving more than 30 shots in each contest.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are heading in the right direction. The Jackets have outshot opponents by 20 shots, 15 shots and 5 shots in last 3 home games. Columus netminder Steve Mason won two of his last 3 starts by shutouts and has a 5-2 record with a 2.09 GAA.

I think the Canucks are going through a cooler streak after their backups goalies got some big wins following star goalie Roberto Luongo injury. Defense is not as sharp and the puck is going in the net. Vancouver were outplayed in 3 straight games and have lost two straight. Furthermore, the Canucks didn't have much success in Columbus losing 3 of the last 4 contests even with Roberto Luongo in the lineup.

I like the Blue Jackets chances, team play hard in your face hockey right now. This team would have a lot more wins if the power plays would click a little more. Columbus is close from getting to the next step. I think Columbus can take advantage of West Coast team playing first game in Eastern road trip.

    Columbus (-115)

The Buffalo Sabres have won two home games against two strong East team in last two in Buffalo. Sabres got by Boston and Pittsburgh. Buffalo no 1 goalie Ryan Miller returns in goal tonight with his 7-2-0 home record. Nashville is coming from a 6-2 home loss to Minnesota after barely beating a suspect Atlanta team 4-3. I think the Sabres can get something going against Nashville tonight.

Predators starting no 2 goalie Pekka Rinne in goal tonight. Rinne has has a misleading 3-0 record since he has only a 8.66 save % and a 3.53 GAA this year and a 6.24 GAA on the road. I like Buffalo chances, I think the Sabres are about to turn the corner. Tomas Vanek is getting hot, Alex Kotalik returns tonight. I believe Nashville is overrated at the moment. You get 10 to 15 cents value.

    Buffalo (-144)

Just in, J.S. Giguere is in tonight for Anaheim. Giguere returns with team after leaving team for family matter (family member sick). Giguere has only one practice to get in shape after one week layoff.

Revenge situation for Detroit which loss 5-4 at Anaheim earlier this year. I like the Red Wings chances. I think the Ducks winning streak is due to great goaltending by Jonas Hiller, he's not in goal tonight. Giguere is 5-11-1 against Detroit and has 3.01 GAA this year and has allowed 3 goals or more in 5 of last 6 appearances.
