I just joined a pick 'em league wherein you pick the straight-up winner of each game and assign confidence points per game from 1-16. You can win $100 weekly and another $1K-1.5K for the highest cumulative total. There are approximately 35-40 competitors.
Can anyone who has played this before offer any advice?
I've considered a)playing higher risk picks weekly and trying to win 3-4 weeks for a nice ROI or b) consistently assigning points 16-12 to the teams with expected wins in the 10-13 range (NE, GB, NO, BALT, SF) regardless of opponent thereby almost guaranteeing that I hit the max points 63%-81% of the time. And maybe also adding to that the inverse and taking the bottom five teams as my 1-5 points every week. This plan would probably not win many weeks outright, but would keep me close to the top for the big prize.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Thomas
