You can do it two ways: actual, and theoretical. You can take the league average goals per game scored and find out theoretically how often teams are expected to finish regulation tied. OR you can dig through nhl.com scores to find out the true answer. Either route will take some work.

Your number appear to be roughly 7% of the time for both 2-2 and 3-3 ties.
