MLB Early season Complete game syndrum
I've started noticing that when a pitcher throws a complete game early in the season two things happen.

    1. The first is that he had to have a REAL good game in order for his manager to allow hit to go 9 innings.

    2. His next game he seems to be overrated and does not do as well.

My feeling is that complete games take much more out of a pitcher then just his number of pitches. There are the additional warm up tosses, another 1 or 2 AB's more fielding and just more wear and tear.

I have not done any real analyses on this yet so I don't have any real numerbs to back up my claim but every time I have bet against a complete game pitcher this year I've won or have been "in the game" with a chance.

Or is this a system? new here sorry - not sure where I can post this yet!

You should be able to build an SDQL query to get this data.

Dump retrosheet file to an SQL database then use PHP to query for any starts after a complete game
