    Fading Question
When they say to fade a team. Does that mean not to bet on that team?

Yes sir..........or when a handicapper makes a selection, if you fade him or her, it means going the opposite.

Scalping = betting both sides of a game for a guaranteed profit.
            I.e. Arizona +3.5 -120
            and Minnesota -3.5 +125.

                what about this bet

                arizona +3 +105
                Minnesota -3.5 +108

would taking both sides of that be considered scalping or no since it is not guaranteed?

Minnesota -3.5 +108 is approximately equal to Minnesota -3 -115 or so..... so not it wouldn't be close to a scalp.

so you have one side at +105 and the other at approx -115..... losing proposition here.

3.0 is not the same as 3.5

i guess it would be favorable if it were:

                        arizona +3.5 +105
                        Minnesota -3 +108

If you had that situation you'd be in fine form..... mostly since arizona +3.5 is equal to Arizona +3 +122 or so..... Remember in football 3 is a MAGIC number and going from -3.5 to -4 won't incur such a dramatic shift.

When you bet a moneyline the night before at +110 and right at the game time it is -125 it is called beating the closing line, right? So if your play wins after the game is over you are a sharp. What is the term for beating the closing line but losing the bet? Goat?
