    Vig Question...
What is the signifigance in terms of who the books is going to win the game if the line starts at

    -3.5 -110
    +3.5 -110

    and then goes to

    -4 -105
    +4 -115

Does this mean that the book thinks the dog is going to cover the +4 and so is trying to get people to wager on the -4 because of the smaller vig? Is this generally thought of as a type of trap line that you stay away from? How do you read deeper into this movement?

    Thanks.

No, +4 -115 is better than +3.5 -110, so this seems like an intermediate step on the way to -4 -110/+4 -110. In other words, it is a logial line move, just not as big a move as going to -4 -110 right away.

It generally means that the book is getting more action on the favorite at -3.5. The book simply moves the line to -4 in an attempt to balance action and profit from the vig. Of course, this is only a generality as not all books are attempting to balance their sheets.
