To clarify: those are winning %'s to breakeven (with the noted above +200 exception, s/b 33.33%), not winning %'s. Joe.

This just encapsulates the exasperation many of us have as to where this board has gone over the years. This is a place where I came to learn years ago from the likes of Ganchrow. Now I come here on occasion and shake my head in disbelief at the crap people put up.

              Indeed.

How about this: I am interested in starting a small team (2-4 members) with people interested in sports modelling, so we can work on a common model and see where it takes us. Each one that joins should have experience with (a) statistical modelling and (b) programming. Are you interested in joining? Do you think there's enough people to do something like that?

No sorry, i'm not quite interested in joining. I'm part of a group myself now and I'm full time in this caper. But yes, find the right people, and it can happen.

However I would pay money to NOT have to hang around those are not serious here (hint to the SBR owner's...create a forum for the HTT with a pay wall or something, to keep out the rabble.)

This place, this former sanctuary for the sports modeler, has well and truly been overrun.

                  No problem, I understand.

Still, it is an open invitation for whoever wants to join. No guarantees and no requirements are involved.

If this takes a while to get up and going I would be very interested. As of now my benefit would be minimal, sports betting is just for fun now. But I'm in college and majoring in finance or econometrics quantitative economics, so the modeling background will be there. Programming is something that it seems like everyone should at least learn the basics nowadays if they get the chance.

Sounds like your studies will be very valuable. Do come in contact if you want to start.
