Matching parlay picks with straight bets
I seem to be having pretty good results matching each bet in my parlay selections with a straight bet. Anybody else doing this?

What do you mean by "matching"?

I have just been making my parlay picks. Then i follow right behind and make a straight bet on each team in my parlay. It seemed i was always losing by 1 game. Not always but seems to help make up some loss.. Maybe i'm crazy just wanted to see if anyone else has done the same..

      so

      Parlay $100

      alabama -3
      texas -2
      oregon -3
      denver +4

THen i have been playing $100 on each of those teams as a straight bet.

          I see.

The key words - "it seemed"

In fact, one leg loss is just one out of many outcomes available and you will face them all as you go.
On balance you will not benefit in any way unless your selections have +EV.

If you are not sure about that (meaning you don't have it) or are sure mistakenly , your strategy is great way to lose your money faster than with parlays alone and certainly faster than if you would just do straight bets w/o parlay.

Out of all bets you make (providing you don't have +EV) parlay is a worse one, so I would just get rid of it all together.

If I am wrong I hope I don't offend him, but I don't think he knows what "+EV" is... otherwise I doubt he would have started this thread (unless he is paid by sbr to create traffic)

Well, he is given food for thought then.
              Always a good thing.

I know its square as hell, but I typically take 8 teams in NCAAF, 100 on each spread. Then 8 team parlay them, RR with 7,6,5, and 4 teamers. Usually put 10 on each parlay. Going 4-4 loses about 1200, 5-3 makes a bit, 6-2 makes 3k or so, maybe more, 7-1 makes like 12k, 8-0 about 30k.

you forgot to mention the 3-5, 2-6 and the rare but not impossible 1-7, 0-8

Thanks for the input. I play a lot of parlays typical is 2-3 games. Sometimes 4 and 5 with my open slot plays. I am surprisingly well ahead of my book to date on the start of football season. I always seem to lose 1 game. Obviously I have lost more. But most often it's a 1 game dagger. Like I said was just looking to see if anybody had any luck. Also 75% or more of my picks are typically dogs +ev. Thanks for the replies
