#111A lot of people have submitted week 1 picks early.
Just want to make sure everyone understands that if you have multiple entries, you do not need to submit picks for all of them at once. You can submit 1 entry for Thursday and another later in the week. As quite a few people have sent all entries at once for week 1.
And also, thank you to the people who sent picks in the table format I can copy/paste into the spreadsheet;
Many more of you have done it than I expected, and it's really a big time saver.Steelers Browns Washington Cowboys Raiders
PS. I understand some people won't have any clue how to do that. Don't feel bad, it's fine to just send your list.Last edited by Optional; 09-09-21, 04:14 PM..Comment -

1. When responding to Opti's PM (or a post for that matter, if needed) first step, click the "Go Advanced" button at middle bottom, this will open all the menu options:
2. Click on far left bottom row icon, if you hover your cursor it reads "Table". Table properties will pop up.
3. Change the Rows/Columns/Width to numbers shown. Alignment doesn't matter, I centered by choice. This will result in a table that matches Opti's example. Click OK.
4. The line in the first box is a cursor, copy/paste (or type) your picks from Opti's pm.
5. Preview post if not sure, otherwise submit and you're done. Hope this helpsLast edited by swordsandtequila; 09-09-21, 07:07 PM.Comment -

#115Thanks Swords and Seaborneq.
Another way would be to highlight my example box, copy it, and then paste it into your PM to me.
As long as your editor is in HTML mode, that will work. (first icon A/A)
I just had another bright idea too.
I will include an empty "entry form" in each weeks PM like this
And people can just click "reply with quote" and fill that in.1 2 3 4 5 .Comment -

#119It's not "Advanced Search", it's "Go Advanced". Bottom right under "Quick Reply" next to "Submit Message". If you choose "Reply to Private Message" instead the menu still shows.Comment -

All the menu options are shown if replying to private message vs using quick reply. It's all moot if Opti includes in his future pms.Comment -

I thought about Google docs too with a password, but I think we'd all have to have our own Google Doc so no picks got messed with, so that might be a huge pain.

If you just copy paste the next between the lines, it's easy to replace the numbers with your selections:
step 1:
-----------------------------
I will include an empty "entry form" in each weeks PM like this
1 2 3 4 5
And people can just click "reply with quote" and fill that in.
----------------------------
step 2:
I will include an empty "entry form" in each weeks PM like this
Bills Titans Patriots Chargers Saints
And people can just click "reply with quote" and fill that in.Comment -

#130You say 4000 freeplay points will be divided amongst the entries that beat the "Optional" entry. You also say "evenly" divided, so if you go 5-0 do you get the same amount as someone who goes 4-1 (assuming of course the Optional entry does worse than 4-1). Or does it work like Beat the Prick used to where the better your record the more points you get?
Just curious.Comment -

#132Yes, evenly divided. If 4 people score higher, then its 1000 points each.
I have gone 2-3, so it will be more like 100 entries to get 40 each this week :\
Getch & Crusher have 5-0s and Uncutgems still has a chance to sweep..Comment -

Thanks for clarifying. I don't think it'll be quite 100 at least - with 116 entries, surely more than 16 will go 2-3, 1-4, or 0-5 (though lot of people had Jets so with one tie might skew things a bit)!
Also though: I assume from what you say that you are not required to have a positive record in order to get points (again they used to have that rule in Beat the Prick). So someone who goes 2-2-1 this week will get the points since they did beat 2-3.Comment -

Not my point. My point is someone who went 2-2-1 back in Beat the Prick even if Prick went 2-3 would not have gotten points since you were required to be positive units (positive record) to get points. Since 2-2-1 is an even record, that's what I was wanting to be clarified, whether we were following that rule of Beat the Prick that you had to have a positive record to get points, not just "beat" the pro. Since it wasn't mentioned, I assume not, just was asking for clarification again.
Going to be interesting, same way Beat the Prick was - this is a good replacement for it no doubt! Imagine Optional goes 0-5 some week, then basically everyone in the contest (other than a few unfortunate souls who join him) will get paid. Granted only about 30-40 points, but hey always good to get something.
In contrast, when Optional goes 4-0-1 or 4-1, going to be a huge payday for the few ahead of him. Should be interesting as I said!Comment -

Less dividing up the points.

#137I hear ya, definitely worth clarifying. I had forgotten we had to be positive record to Beat the Prick. Like you said it wasn't mentioned and I read ("score higher than my "Optional" entry) and just assumed it was score only.
Guess I should have maxed out 3 entries, instead of 2. Beating Opti when he goes 4-0-1 or 4-1 could win some really nice free plays. Add in the other smaller winning weeks and entries can pay for themselves & more in the long run. I got a good mind to spot you guys this week for that fact alone.
Plus you have a 1 in 8 chance, to win a chunk of points on the Top 15 leaderboard. You're absolutely right, this is a great replacement for the old BTP gameComment -
