Fits the criteria: public "name" team favored by less than a field goal at home. Problem is, I typically don't like touching MAC teams/games. Anyone with insight on either team?

This is a coin flip.
Western Michigan isn't that good. I've bet against them several times the past two years when everyone loved them and it was easy money.
With that said, Minnesota isn't that good either.

Yes, the UNLV game was pretty embarrassing, but if you watched it you would know a little more about the final. There was only 13 points scored for each team in regulation. Gray overthrew four or five receivers for what would have likely been touchdowns. Shouldn't have been a close game. The New Hampshire game from last saturday is a better indicator of what this team will play like. Gray has worked out the early west coast game jitters and should be playing much better. Take it or leave it. This is a team which slapped the Illini around in the final game of last year playing against a team which was dominated by the Illini in the first game of the year. I would personally say to not play this game, but if you do, Minny is the easy play at home.Comment -

On W. Michigan as well as its a strong play for me. Minnesota is not a play from behind team or nor built to match scores as they should be up against from a gun slinging W. Michigan team. Gray may be a running treat but no means is his arm his best asset.Comment -
Minnesota's D has looked better so far this year. Gray is hard to stop on the ground and if he hits just a couple passes to open receivers this could and should be a runaway, especially at home. Minnesota is working on getting their O line to play better, plus they have a couple monster defensive pass rushers. I like Minnesota to cover the FG easy and I also teased it with the Under.
