the commissioners have devirginized themselves with accepting a 4 team playoff in 2014. i say you see 8 teams by the end of the decade (or whenever the 4 team deal runs out, the details i dont believe been finalized yet) and 16 teams soon after that and then 32 with no bowl games by 2032. personally i think 8s the perfect number.

Never. In a 4 team group, we're talking about selecting from the elite teams of the NCAAF. Dilute that to 8 teams and you'll be consistently including teams that do not deserve consideration, who have 2+ losses. Look back over the history of the BCS rankings and you'll see that a 4 team playoff would have been a better fit more often than a larger bracket.Comment -

but the bball tourney is arguably the best in sport.
Regardless if they deserve to be there or not based on past results, any top(ish) team could put together a tough run in a playoff, especially a 2+ L team from a dominant conference. IMO, every respectable, competitive team should have a shot within a bracket.
keep your bowl games, too. those can be the different games within the rounds.Comment -
32 by 2032 was a little overzealous since it was a 12 year deal, but i still like 8. i think this would improve the regular season as you would have more teams going out and scheduling harder non conference games to try and get a wild card type spot.Comment -

If theres a chance to double or triple the money they make from a 4-team playoff, you can bet yer ass they will increase it to 6 (top two get a bye) and then maybe 8 teams. Dont see it going higher than that.Comment
