the commissioners have devirginized themselves with accepting a 4 team playoff in 2014. i say you see 8 teams by the end of the decade (or whenever the 4 team deal runs out, the details i dont believe been finalized yet) and 16 teams soon after that and then 32 with no bowl games by 2032. personally i think 8s the perfect number.

Never. In a 4 team group, we're talking about selecting from the elite teams of the NCAAF. Dilute that to 8 teams and you'll be consistently including teams that do not deserve consideration, who have 2+ losses. Look back over the history of the BCS rankings and you'll see that a 4 team playoff would have been a better fit more often than a larger bracket.

      ya ya... probably.
but the bball tourney is arguably the best in sport.
Regardless if they deserve to be there or not based on past results, any top(ish) team could put together a tough run in a playoff, especially a 2+ L team from a dominant conference. IMO, every respectable, competitive team should have a shot within a bracket.
keep your bowl games, too. those can be the different games within the rounds.

32 by 2032 was a little overzealous since it was a 12 year deal, but i still like 8. i think this would improve the regular season as you would have more teams going out and scheduling harder non conference games to try and get a wild card type spot.

If theres a chance to double or triple the money they make from a 4-team playoff, you can bet yer ass they will increase it to 6 (top two get a bye) and then maybe 8 teams. Dont see it going higher than that.
