Remember, though, these statistics look at the distribution of bets, not the distribution of money. In other words, as I understand it, for purposes of these kinds of stats, a $10 bet counts the same as a $10,000 bet: 1 bet.
At any rate, if what you want to do is find out how "the public" is betting, this might be just what you are looking for.

I have a problem with these sites. what sample sizes are they looking at, and where are they getting their samples from? I have a hard time believing the information is reliable, and I have a hard time believing that the information matters all that muchComment -
thespread.com gives the sample size; it's just over 16000 in this case. I don't know where they get their data.
I agree that it's nothing to rely on too heavily. I wouldn't even know how to rely on it. I certainly would not bet with the majority every time, and I wouldn't bet against the majority every time either. You've just got to look at the games for yourself.
It's just another source of info. Sometimes it interests me (like when I get a hint that the really big money is going in the direction opposite the majority of the bettors). Usually, though, I see the betting percentages as trivia.
